Heather and Thomas recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary and chose to acknowledge the occasion with an anniversary shoot in their wedding garb, and we don’t think it could have turned out more beautifully. They came all the way from Atlanta for this session, so our bathroom was their dressing room, and we loved the extra time getting to know them. We were actually at another shoot when they arrived in town, so we left a key for them and a mutual friend of ours who would be doing Heather’s makeup so they could get in and begin getting ready. When we got to our house, Thomas, who we’ve never met before, greeted us at the front door with a “Welcome to our home, do you like it?!” with his arms out wide and a big, goofy grin. This was only one of the 4,592 hilarious things that the couple would say throughout the evening. Heather also had some pretty funny stories about a lady she works with that brings a pet frog to the office, but we digress…
Heather was a stunning bride, and she and Thomas just look so good together. We would ask them to kiss for a photo, and boy, they would KISS. They’d go into their own world with each other, one that was natural and comfortable, which made beautiful images. We had to use a phrase with them that we don’t think we’ve had to yet – “OK. You can stop kissing now.” Most couples give a quick peck, and we have to say, “hold that kiss!” Not these two. They really liked kissing each other.
Aside from their playful personalities that complemented the other’s perfectly, these guys illustrated that their first year of marriage was a beautiful one. They were so proud to be married to one another and were excited to celebrate the gift of marriage together. They are just one of those couples that make you feel good to be around and demonstrate what marriage is simply with the way they interact. Their laughter was contagious and the way that they love each other makes you want to hug the one you love a little tighter and be grateful for the opportunity to have someone to laugh and share life with. Heather also gave us the best complement we’ve received thus far when she said that we made her feel more beautiful than she felt on her actual wedding day. That’s exactly what we want to do – highlight our clients’ internal and external beauty, and have them to see the beauty within themselves!
Even though we had only met them that day, Jamie actually invited them to her family birthday dinner after our shoot – that’s how much we liked these guys! They were a blast, and we can’t say enough great things about them. Even though they declined the awkward party, we’re going to hold them to their suggestion of dinner next time they’re in Birmingham or we are in Atlanta.
