Michaela & Travis

Looking back on Michaela and Travis’ wedding, we can’t help but smile a big, goofy smile, because the day was so flipping phenomenal. It’s one of those weddings that we will always remember as a day that encompassed all of the reasons why we love our job as wedding photographers so much. Travis and Michaela, first off, are fantastic people who we really grew to love, and they could have gotten married on the side of the road in potato sacks for all we care – we would have still loved every part of their day. But there were no potato sacks here. No way. There were beautiful, thoughtful details, a to-die-for sunset, confetti cannons and plenty of joy and laughter to go around.

Michaela and Travis are high school sweethearts and are perfect for each other. They both have a very dry, witty humor, and they’ve gotten sarcasm down to an art. So, when the kissy-kissy adorableness finally came out, we were a little surprised but oh so excited!! We’ll never forget when we first heard Michaela say “AW POOK!” when Travis was hugging and kissing on her after the ceremony. Yes, Pook. Don’t you love it!?? Hey, our pet name for each other is “Shmurny,” so we’re definitely not judging the Pook 😉

There’s a time at each wedding, after dinner and the first dances, when this slightly awkward moment happens. The music gets louder and the lights get dimmer, and you see some toes begin to tap. No one wants to be the first one on the dance floor, though, for fear that no one will join them and they’ll be dancing alone. Sooner or later, after a few cocktails or some really great songs, someone will get up and break the figurative dancing ice. For this wedding, it was Michaela’s parents who got the party started. Jamie cried at the sight of these two people, who probably felt a little uncomfortable, jumping out on the dance floor without hesitation to ensure that the reception was all that their daughter and their new son have dreamed of.
