Savannah and Clay are young and in love. One of the youngest brides and grooms we’ve ever worked with, actually. But, we dare you to spend some time with this sweet couple and not KNOW that they were made for each other and that they are going to honor and celebrate their marriage for years to come. They are wise beyond their years, and when they are together, you just know. And they just know. This is it. In today’s society, we think it’s easy to make assumptions about couples getting married. “They are too young,” or “they haven’t been together long enough,” or “they haven’t experienced life yet!” We take these judgements personally, because there was a time in our own relationship where we listened to the lies and assumptions of others, and it almost tore us apart. Love is love, y’all, and love happens differently for different people. And for Savannah and Clay, it was just right. It was perfect.
Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. – 1 Timothy 4:12
Their big day was gorgeous. Such a lovely May wedding, impeccably planned by our girl Becky at Becky’s Brides. Clay was so handsome in his blue suit, Savannah was rocking her elegant lace gown (We got to shoot her bridals, also! That’s a different blog post, but she is a stunner!!), and her peony bouquet from HotHouse Design Studio was the perfect addition to this beautiful southern wedding. The personal touches were on point. Savannah made children’s coloring books for her younger wedding guests, and the wedding favors were CDs of the couple’s favorite love songs. Savannah insisted on a first look with her father (such a special moment!), and Clay shared a sweet first look with his mother as well. We cheered as the couple said “I do,” shared their first dance, and departed in Ruby, a red 1951 Packard 250 convertible, under FIREWORKS! Wow, you guys, it was a GOOD day.
This couple is one-of-a-kind. Their love for each other is undeniable, and their generosity for others really stood out to us. We loved watching Savannah and Clay shower their family and wedding party with gifts at their rehearsal dinner. We even watched them throw away plates and get refills for their guests. This was so not their job, and there were people on stand-by for these tasks, but that’s just Savannah and Clay. Sweet, joyful, generous and kind (Eric INSISTED that Clay not call him “Mr. Eric,” but that’s just Clay. So polite!). We’re lucky we were able to spend time with these two.
Savannah and Clay, we love you guys! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your big day, getting to know you and your family, and experience your incredible joy! Congratulations, you two! Here’s to the next 80 years!
