Ok, y’all. Let’s be real. Summertime in central Alabama is no joke. Take a high of 93° with a heat index of 100° and 80% humidity, and you’ve got an Alabama-sized crock pot (slow cooker, for all you Yankees) and we’re the meal. Slowly cooking until Eric swears he’s down 3 pant sizes in one wedding day on account of all the sweating. Too much information? Probably, but that’s just reality down here, and we’ve learned that sometimes, the weather has the ability to put a damper on the wedding day with the bride is in a 20 lb. dress with 5 layers and all the guys in the wedding party in 3-piece suits. NOT comfortable. The funny thing is, though, you’d never know how hot and humid it was based on these photos. Was it because everyone photographed was a fake-laugh master? No. It was because nothing in the world could take away the joy and happiness everyone felt on this wedding day, especially Ashley and Brett.
We fell in love with these two at our first meeting with them last year because 1) they are freakin’ adorable (their engagement session was out of this world!) 2) they are so sweet and genuine and 3) because they are absolutely crazy about each other. The way they look at each other is how every couple should. With puppy love and heart-eyes, but also with the “you’re my person” kind of look. The deep love that is timeless and romantic. Ashley and Brett know they were made for each other, and we agree. Throughout the entire day, there was constant laughter. In Ashley’s getting-ready room, there were mimosas, music, and lots of silliness, and the guys were recounting embarrassing stories about their childhood and growing up together. During their first look, Brett turned around to Ashley with a big, goofy grin saying “here I am!!!” It was adorable, and so them.
The guests danced the night away after the beautiful evening ceremony, and the party didn’t stop until the bride and groom were long gone. This wedding was a celebration of marriage at its finest. We watched a human train travel around the venue and every guest, both old and young, get out on the dance floor for The Wobble. These folks tore up the dance floor in honor of this amazing couple. It was so much fun.
Ashley and Brett, thank you for trusting us to capture your memories. We are so glad that you guys met in swim class so long ago and that Brett “stared at Ashley underwater!” We love you guys, and we think the world of you and your sweet families! We wish you all the best as your start married life in Dothan! You guys are going to do amazing things! Cheers to the next 70 years!
