When we first met with Kristen and Dylan over coffee, we became very excited. Excited for a lot of reasons. First, Kristen told us about her vision for her wedding day, and it was right up our alley. Kristen and Dylan are just so effortlessly cool, and we knew their wedding would reflect their awesomeness. Count us in. Second, we learned of how they wanted to keep their wedding day very intimate, only inviting a limited number of family and friends, and we knew that it would pose the perfect opportunity for amazing emotional moments, and we were honored to be a part of the few who would see Kristen and Dylan tie the knot in person! Third, they are sweet, funny, and we love being around them! Yes, please!
Kristen got ready in a gorgeous loft in downtown Birmingham that she reserved via Airbnb. We thought that was such a brilliant idea! The view was breathtaking and the natural light poured through the windows! Their ceremony took place on gorgeous private property, surrounded by gorgeous wide open spaces and bulls! Yes, bulls! So cool!
The tears flowed in all directions as Kristen walked down the aisle toward Dylan on her father’s arm. We’re not sure whose facial expression was best – Kristen’s, Dylan’s or her dad’s! It was obvious that there was a LOT of love present, and we’re so glad we got to be a part of it! We loved how Kristen and Dylan had refreshments on ice for family to enjoy as they visit and took family photos after the ceremony. It was one of the most relaxed, laid back post-ceremony portrait session we’ve ever been a part of! Maybe we should take note from Kristen and Dylan and bring a bunch of drinks on ice to our next family portrait time!
Later, at the reception, the toasts were also unforgettable. When sisters and friends shared funny stories about the couple and their parents offered their hopes for their children’s future, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house (including ours!). The Nest in Avondale served as the perfect venue for the intimate affair, and we loved seeing the vision Kristen first described in our meetings come to life!
Kristen and Dylan, thank you, from the bottom of our heart, for entrusting us with the most important day of your life. Thank you for the honor and privilege, pleasure and responsibility of documenting such an amazing occasion. We felt inspired by your weddings vows, the words spoken by your sweet family, and the way you look at each other. We love you guys and wish you nothing but a lifetime of continued love and happiness!
