It’s not often that Alabama gets snow or ice. Really, the chances are slim to none, and no one thinks twice about getting married in the winter here. Heck, we got married in February, and the high was in the mid 50’s! But every once in a while, we’ll get a little tweak in our typically mild winter season that leaves people flocking to the grocery store for milk and bread, because they might be stuck inside their house for a few days… and forced to eat milk sandwiches, obviously.
Cue Brittney & Josh’s wedding day. The day before their wedding, a whole mess of rain dropped on central Alabama as the temperature fell below freezing. After nightfall, the sleet turned into snow, and we woke up to a winter wonderland. We were thanking our lucky stars though, because we chose to be super safe and get a hotel a mile away from Aldridge Gardens, so that if the roads were too bad to drive, we could at least walk to our wedding! The day was met with challenges, no doubt. Roads were blocked because of multi-car accidents, and roads were so icy in some places, that even if you had the road to yourself, you probably couldn’t get out of your own driveway.
That didn’t stop Brittney and Josh from having the most beautiful, incredible wedding day, so full of love. We were inspired by Brittney and Josh’s incredible attitude and decided at the end of the day that we could all be a little more like Brittney and Josh. They do not sweat the small stuff and they are laser focused on what is truly important. Yes, things happened due to the ice that wasn’t ideal, but NO, it did not remove one ounce of love and happiness from this wedding. These two kept each other smiling and warm, and in turn, guests had a ball! Dancing, eating, and hugging necks – it was a party!
Mr. and Mrs. Fields, we’d go back and shiver during your wedding day a hundred times if we could, because of the amazing couple you are. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for having us.
