Sweet Home Alabama. The Heart of Dixie. We love our state. It’s got it all: beautiful mountains, amazing food, thriving cities, and good ole Southern hospitality. And we LOVE when someone mentions having a session at our state capitol in Montgomery. So when Jessica mentioned her wedding would feature many Montgomery staples like the state capitol, Montgomery Union Station and Market Town Coffee, we were stoked. We were equally as excited when we learned that AL.com featured Jessica and Eric’s wedding on their website! Here’s what the feature reads:
“Jessica Carroll knew she wanted something unique and displayed her deep Alabama roots for her bridal portraits.
The Alabama native, who now lives in Nashville, discussed options with her mom, who came up with the perfect solution: Photos in the Capitol.
“With me being from Montgomery, and working in several different political spheres throughout the state, it pulled it all together,” she said.
But she didn’t stop at the bridal photos. Her now-husband, Eric, isn’t from Bama — he grew up in Nashville, went to school in North Carolina, landed in D.C. and has extended family in New Jersey. So she wanted to show off some of her favorite things about Alabama.
After a wedding at First Baptist Church, they headed to the reception (via trolleys) to the Union Station Train Shed and Visitor’s Center.
“We chose the train station for the Montgomery factor,” Jessica said. … We really wanted somewhere to showcase ‘Montgomery-ness,’ if you will.”
And in the middle of the reception, the guests were treated to the perfect taste of Montgomery: Coffee from Market Town Coffee Co. and hot dogs from Chris’ Famous Hot Dogs.
“It was just perfect,” she said.”
