February has come and gone, and that means it’s time for the second installment of The Monthly Mashup! February was an AMAZING month in so many ways, and we’re so excited to share some fun things that have happened this month with you guys! To see January’s mashup, click here! 1. We celebrated our third wedding anniversary!
Marriage is one of life’s most incredible blessings, and no matter how busy we are, we always try to make time to pay homage to special anniversaries. We spend 24 hours a day together, or as Eric says, “28 hours a day, 8 days a week, 370 days a year” (meaning A LOT), and we wouldn’t have it any other way. But, it’s important to carve out that time where we’re not focused on work or responsibilities. To celebrate, we got out of our sweatpants and got a little dressed up for the classic dinner-and-a-movie date night, but we forgot to take a picture!! (This blog series is supposed to encourage us to take MORE personal pictures… FAIL!)
2. We went on a cruise!
There’s something about hanging out with hundreds of other happy people on a pool deck, on a giant boat, in the middle of the ocean, with a book in lap and beverage in hand. Cruises have a special place in our hearts. We went on our first cruise with Jamie’s family back in 2009. Then, we went on a honeymoon cruise the morning after we got married in 2014 and an early second anniversary cruise at the end of 2015. So this made cruise #4 for us. Our week-long boat ride consisted of stops in Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. We rode horses through the water on the beach, visited and climbed Mayan ruins, played on inflatable obstacle courses in the ocean, and something something. On the ship, we participated in nearly every trivia event, entertainment show and belly flop competition and soaked up every bit of “adult summer camping.” We are cruisers for life, although we think our next trip may look a little different. More on that later!
3. Tuesday’s Together Birmingham
February was our first month to co-lead the Birmingham chapter of Tuesday’s Together, and it was so much fun! We had close to 20 attendees who all decorated their own heart-shaped cookies for Valentine’s Day, making Jamie’s little activity-loving heart was very happy. We discussed email marketing and how it can benefit your business, and the conversations were extremely inspiring, in-depth, and so productive! It was great to have so many creatives share their minds and experiences all in one room! We can’t wait for March’s meeting!
4. Caught up with old friends and made new ones.
Over the years we’ve made friends with so many photographers all over the country – yay internet! Occasionally, we will reconnect with some and catch up on how life and business is going for each other. Maison and Caleb are another husband and wife team based in Madison, Wisconsin (you should go check them out right now. You’ll become obsessed instantly). We got to Skype with them to see what was new in their lives since we last saw them in person in May 2016 at the Connect retreat. They are doing so many great things through their business and their marriage, and we are so pumped for them! We also got to connect with a new face! Brian Bossany and his wife, Katrina are super fun wedding photographers in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We’ve known Brian through Facebook and mutual friends for a while now, but it was so good to actually chat with him and get to further our friendship!
5. We photographed a beautiful wedding!
February also brought a whole bunch of pretty into our cameras! Anna & Pierce had the most perfect wedding day full of so much love. From the incredible florals and impeccable details to the gorgeous bride and groom and their adorable puppy, this wedding had it all!
6. We took more cat photos!
Just look at these babies! We can’t handle the cuteness…
We’d call February a success! We hope you’ll join us again next month!
