So, if you’ve been following us on Facebook, you’ve seen how excited (and maybe a little obnoxious…) we’ve been about The International Academy of Wedding Photographers’ Awards that are going on now. We entered the awards a while ago, and we were ecstatic to find out that we were recognized in SEVEN out of the eight categories.
For those who have no clue what we’re talking about, we recently announced how pumped we are to be “going back to school” as part of the International Academy of Wedding Photographers Class of 2016 (read all about it here!). In addition to educating and empowering wedding photographers around the nation, The Academy also holds awards to recognize the work of wedding photographers whether they are Academy members or not.
Here is where YOU come in: They’ve announced the Top 50, Top 30 and Top 16 photos for various categories in the contests, and the judges scores are in. However, each photo that made the finals is posted on The Academy’s Facebook page, and social media votes will be combined with judges scores to create the TOP 10 in each category. And if you can’t tell – we’d love to be in that top 10. So, if you see any photos of ours that you love, we’d really appreciate a Facebook “like” on that photo.
Here’s the rundown:
Category 1: Wedding Day Coverage
Our recent coverage of Whitney and Andy Overstreet’s big day was selected as one of the Top 16 wedding coverage bundles. We’re honored to be a finalist in this category because it is an all-encompassing category that captures exactly what we want to do – From Mimosas to sparkler send off, we strive to capture our couples’ wedding day memories in a beautiful, authentic, and joyful manner.
The florals in this photograph were crafted by the talented Savannah Kilpatrick of Bushel & Peck, makeup is by Jackie Robinson of Raww Beauty (so good!) and the venue is Christ Church at Branch Cove. It was such an amazing wedding, and the full day will be hitting the blog very soon.
Category 2: The Wedding Couple
This photo is one of our favorites of the beautiful Chandler Champion and our hip and handsome friend, Chris Lee. Florals again are by Bushel & Peck, rings by Agnew Jewelers, tux by Mr. Burch, amazing wedding gown by Bella’s Bridal, hair by Kami Watts from Wildflower Day Spa and makeup by Shea Doriety at About Face. These vendors were unreal!
Category 3: Just The Groom
Chris Lee looking sharp from the same shoot detailed above.
Category 4: Just the Bride (two entries!)
Entry #1: First is the stunning Kerri Bunn of BOMA. We loooove this photo of Kerri! Concept by Handley McCrory of Handley Breaux Designs, dress by Catherine Ryals, florals by Bushel & Peck. Again, insanely talented vendors.
Entry #2: Can Chandler get any more beautiful? We love this shot. Details outlined above in category 2!
Category 5: Engagement Couple
This is one of our favorites from our shoot in New Orleans with Cassie and Seth. These two are so cool. That’s the best way to describe them. They are so easy going, laid back and in love. We’re thrilled to be traveling back to NOLA for their wedding in October of this year!
Category 6: The Details (two entries!)
Entry #1: First is a beautiful shot of a pair of Betsy Johnson white rhinestone heels with the bride’s earrings placed on the back of the shoes. We love how this shot turned out!
Entry #2:
This is another shot from the sailboat shoot by Handley Breaux Designs. This beautiful cake was created by Gia’s Cakes, and it made for a perfect detail shot!
Category 7: Candid Moments
An in-between moment during our “upscale elopement” shoot detailed above.
Now, this goes without saying, but we’d be so grateful for your support. Please click each of these links and press “like” to vote for us! Thanks, guys!
