Madison and Patrick are such a joy. They are a joy to be around because of their warm, fun, laid back personalities. They are a joy to work with because of the incredible love they have for each other. They are a joy to photograph because, well, just look at them! Beautiful people who are insanely photogenic and have a magnetic chemistry together that shows up SO well in photographs… does it get any better than that?!
We’ve known sweet Madison from Jamie’s days in PageantLand (how we refer to Jamie’s time competing in the Miss America Organization), and we knew that she was a really fantastic girl with a heart of gold, but there’s something about seeing a great girl in love with an equally awesome guy that just makes us love her even more than we already did. Before we have engagement sessions with our couples, before our brides and grooms book us, we sit down with them over coffee. We want to get to know them beyond emails and social media interaction, and for them to get to know us on a level beyond being just another wedding vendor. It’s one of the most important pieces of having a great wedding experience, in our opinion. Since we’ve known Madison for years, we visited with her and her sweet mother at their home to discuss the wedding process. Patrick is currently living in Atlanta, but insisted on Skyping in and being a part of our meeting. This speaks volumes to us, you guys, and says so much about Patrick. It was so cute seeing how Madison interacted with Patrick and vice versa. Even over Wi-Fi, their love for each other was so evident.
We had a blast with these two during their downtown Birmingham engagement shoot. We started out the shoot about two hours before sunset like we often do, because we like to conclude a session during the “Magic Hour” – that time before sunset when the light is golden, dreamy, and perfect. However, on this day, Magic Hour didn’t seem like it was going to be very magical. It had been rainy, and the weather was overcast and dreary. We love a good overcast day for photos, but with Birmingham’s Railroad Park being the second location for the shoot, we were disappointed that we weren’t going to get that golden goodness in such an open-air environment. When we got there, though, it was like the heavens opened up and God smiled (insert angels singing here), because we got blown away by the most beautiful golden-amber sunset we’d seen in a very long time. You know those sunsets right after it rains that are so vivid, you never want it to end? This was it. We basked in it, shooting until it ran out, and relished in the glory goodness as we wrapped the session.
Madison and Patrick, we love you guys. You two are made for each other, and your personalities are the perfect compliment to the other. We’re so glad we get to spend your big day with you in April, and we know you guys CAN’T WAIT to become husband and wife. Let the countdown begin!
