The great thing about this job is the freedom and creativity that comes with it. Yes, with weddings, there are certain shots you HAVE to get, certain guidelines you HAVE to follow, but so much creativity can be intertwined with the rule book to make beautiful images. On top of that, when we’re not being paid to photograph, we still LOVE to photograph. This shoot came together on a whim during a weekend this summer we weren’t booked, and we had a blast with it. We enlisted some pretty friends and gathered up some pretty things we had lying around the house, went out into a pretty field and captured some great shots. It was just a time to dabble with what we had on hand, get creative and have some fun. Playing dress up and playing pretend is always a good time.
But, enough about what happened behind the scenes. Let’s set the stage. Here’s the concept:
A beautiful, bohemian bride, let’s call her Rhonda (why not?) was finally celebrating her wedding day with her three best friends and bridesmaids. That morning, Rhonda left the hotel where she and her three bridesmaids had spent the night eating junk food, recalling childhood memories and playing Cards Against Humanity. She was leaving to meet her mother for a hair and nail appointment, but had set up a brunch in the gardens for her BFFs to enjoy while she was gone. She left them gifts and bubbly, and of course, enlisted her wedding photographer to take photos of them throughout the afternoon. The girls enjoyed quality time together and lots of laughs that day before watching Rhonda marry the love of her life that evening.
