One of our core beliefs as wedding photographers is that engagement sessions are important, if not essential for a smooth wedding day, and there are so many reasons why we love them. Most importantly, it gives our sweet couples the opportunity to get nice and cuddly with each other in front of the camera (and in front of us!) for a while, and that translates into more natural and genuine portraits on the wedding day. Another reason why we believe engagement sessions are so important is because it gives the couple a chance to say, “Hello, world. This is us. This is a visual representation of our unique relationship and our love for one another.” One way to do this is through location. We always ask our couples if there is a location that holds significance in their relationship. When we asked Chelsey and Jon this question, they were quick to answer. Mt. Cheaha was the place.
It was where Jon proposed to Chelsey. It was the spot where they would hang out as their relationship grew. They have their initials engraved in a supporting post at the end of a bridge that looks over the highest point in the state of Alabama. And beside those initials are the numbers 13, 14, 15, 16 for each year they had been together. Of course this is where we would take their engagement photos! No question. And tomorrow, we get to venture to a church in their hometown of Sylacauga where their relationship began to witness as they say “I do” and give each other their forever. Could it be any more perfect? These two are head over heels, and we know it’s going to be a phenomenal day!
