From beginning to end, this was one beautiful wedding. As if we weren’t excited enough to show you Whitney and Andy’s nuptials on the blog today, we were so excited to be named Top 10 in the Overall Wedding Coverage category in the International Academy of Wedding Photographers Awards for our coverage of Whitney and Andy’s big day.
This wedding was personal, and Whitney’s creative touches were everywhere. She is a DIY’er, but not the kind of DIY’er that is obvious. When we try to DIY, the end result looks very similar to pinterestfails.com. Whitney, however, actually makes pin-worthy awesomeness and her creative vision is astounding. We imagine many conversations with Whitney go like this: “OH my goodness! Where did you get that shirt!? It’s so cute!” “Oh, this old thing? I knitted this myself with my own thread I made out of recycled paper towel rolls.” Or maybe like this: “Your house is so nice! I bet you hired a great interior decorator!” “No interior decorator here, but West Elm’s senior buyer always tells me how beautiful my home is when she buys my designs on the regular!” It wouldn’t surprise us at all.
Whitney and Andy’s wedding was also emotional. Their first look was incredibly romantic – definitely one for the books. Andy was so in awe of his bride, he must have said, “Wow, you look beautiful!” about 170 times. Once they hugged each other for the first time, they didn’t let go. Happy tears were shed throughout the day as well as tears of remembrance for loved ones who had passed. Whitney made a plaque to remember Andy’s father and Andy surprised Whitney with a beautiful necklace and a heartfelt note. These two are so in love, and their families are so proud of the two people they have become and the union they’be created.
On top of all of that, this wedding was FUN! The dancing lasted all night, which included a curiously flawless lip sync performance of Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” from one party guest. The couple strapped a Go-Pro to the officiant’s chest to capture an up-close-and-personal view of the ceremony and left the reception in a RZ-R in true Andy-and-Whitney adventurous fashion.
We loved seeing these two begin their forever. We really love watching the affection that Andy and Whitney share, and we are so glad they are our friends!
