Kiara & Chris

We love new and different locations when shooting engagement sessions, so we were pumped to have access to the Presidential Suite of The Winfrey Hotel. Kiara and Chris wanted an indoor location option because of the cold and unpredictable weather, and since they are having their wedding reception at The Winfrey, it was an obvious choice. This suite was amazing with two stories, a kitchen, dining room, an incredible masterbathroom and bedroom and a wall of windows with a goregeous view of Hoover. We could definitely live there. Come to think of it, the hotel room may have been bigger than our house.

Kiara and Chris are a special couple. Jamie and Kiara studied in the same Master’s program at UAB, and they had a lot of classes together. Before they got to know each other, Kiara was “the girl with the beautiful voice.” She gave amazing presentations because of the way she spoke. She could probably read the phonebook and still get a good grade because she just sounded so great. Jamie used to tell her other grad school friends that she wanted Kiara to read bedtime stories to her (Jamie doesn’t think she’s ever told Kiara that!) They became friends and partnered on many projects where Kiara supported Jamie’s procrastination, and often times was right there with her – finishing papers at 11 p.m. the night before they were due! (Hey, we still got A’s!) Jamie heard a lot about Chris and was so excited when Kiara came into class one day with a beautiful engagement ring on her hand, and we were even more excited when she asked us to be her wedding photographers! So, Kiara and Chris’s wedding will definitely be a special one!

Their wedding will have a Gatsby flare to it, and you can tell by this engagement shoot that that is right up their alley. They are incredibly classy and stylish, and don’t they look good together!? Aside from their obvious good looks, this couple kept us laughing, too. We have shamelessly stolen Kiara’s joke as our own to pull out during other photo shoots and for everyday awkward silences. It goes like this: “Why did the monkey fall out of the tree?” ….. “It was dead.” THAT is funny.

We are looking so forward to Kiara and Chris’s August wedding. We know that it will be nothing short of beautiful, sophisticated and timeless – just like them! Congrats, guys, and we’re so thrilled to be a part this special time in your lives!
